When Kelly’s sister asked her to send her their late grandmother’s apron and any other cloth items she had, she cringed. “No, I use the apron and I’m afraid to part with the sheets. Besides we use the blanket that was on the bed I had at Gramma’s when we were kids.”
What Kelly’s sister had in mind turned out to be pure genius. A friend and brilliant tailor took memories that had been in drawers for literally decades and made them into items that Kelly and her sister now enjoy every day.
Not being one who sews, Kelly’s view of these precious new items created out of old keepsakes seemed magical. In this workshop, she passes along the ideas gathered from interviewing others who have brought new life to old mementos.
